Kingsway-Lambton provides sensitive, thoughtful, up-to-date, personal pastoral care to all members of our faith community and their extended families.
We also offer annual educational events and seminars on topics of health and wellness to the broader community. Kingsway-Lambton has a minister whose sole function is pastoral care. He has a doctorate in Pastoral Care & Counselling and is assisted by a trained team of volunteers. Additionally, our other clergy staff have training and experience in pastoral care and offer their expertise in a variety of caring groups, through visitation and appropriate helpful and healing liturgies.
Working in tandem with the clergy is an experienced Pastoral Care Team. They seek to be instrumental in assisting families or individuals who are making difficult decisions, facing accidental or developmental crises and struggling with overwhelming problems. They serve as midwives of ideas and possibilities desiring to nurture the often tender and hesitant growth of individuals and families.
The Scriptures are full of many examples, illustrations and teachings that offer help, guidance, comfort and care to those in need.
Desirous of being faithful to our biblical roots as well as giving wings to the best of modern day knowledge in health related fields, we strive to assist the needy physically, psychologically and spiritually.
In the New Testament, Jesus told a story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37). The lawyer in the story asked Jesus, "Who is my neighbour?" The answer distinctly given was: anyone in need. From its beginning, people in the church were appointed to fulfill tasks of caring and helpfulness. They sought opportunities "to bear one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ."(Galatians 6:2) and the strong are "to help the weak." (Romans 15:1). We believe that the Church, at its best and finest, frees people to know and use their God given potential, intelligence and inner resources.
When people are liberated to become what they are capable of being and discovering the fullest expression of their uniqueness, then we have served well.
How can you get involved in Pastoral Care?
A genuinely warm welcome is given when you come to our church. Get to know what we do and chose where you may wish to learn and serve. If it is in Pastoral Care, our Minister of Pastoral Care will meet with you to discuss our Pastoral Care program in detail.
If you know anyone, of any age, who is in need of pastoral care or is in hospital or another healthcare facility, please contact the church office to be connected with the appropriate resources.
