If you want
to have fun, laugh, have the support of other women in the happy
and challenging times of your life, get involved in the UCW at Kingsway
Lambton.
What
is the UCW?
The UCW is
an organization which provides Christian fellowship, friendship
and mutual support for women in the United Church. Through the work
of the UCW, the women in our Church are able to support each other
and our community.
What
does the UCW at Kingsway Lambton do?
"Friends,
Support, Charity"
Within
our Church
We have six active units of various ages and interests. Each unit
organizes their own meetings and programs, i.e. social events,
road trips, guest speakers on a variety of subjects, Bible study,
crafts, etc. The UCW as a whole, or individual units also organize
various fundraisers. The largest of these fundraisers are the
annual Flea Market , the annual
Art Show and the providing of funeral
receptions.
Within
the United Church
We support the activities of the United
Church Mission and Service Fund and other United Church charities
as well, and some of our members participate in Presbyterial events.
Within
the Community
Our membership is very committed to supporting our community
and large part of our funds raised go to local
charities.
"A
close-knit loving relationship with other women in the Church
with an opportunity for service and support for Kingsway-Lambton."
How
can I get involved in the UCW at Kingsway Lambton?
There are different
ways you can get involved with the UCW:
- Join a unit.
We encourage you to join a unit. It is a wonderful way to meet
and have the support and fellowship of other Christian women.
Even if you do not have a lot of time, you can still join a unit
– participate as much as you are able. Try us out. Go to
different unit meetings and see what fits you best.
- Work with
us on some of our major events. You don't have to be a member
to help with our fundraisers. In fact many of the volunteers at
the Flea Market are not members of the UCW. We have lots of men
working at the Flea Market, and many of them are not members of
the Church. In fact, some of the best times we have are working
at these events. This is the time we laugh together and have the
most fun.
- Attend our
annual Spring dinner (early June) or our Christmas luncheon (late
November, early December)
If you are
interested in becoming involved or would like more information about
the UCW, please contact Helen Paul (our Membership Coordinator)
or Antje Cavanagh (our President) through the
Church Office.

information, please check the Look
What's Happening section.
