Values Day Update
Thanks to everyone who joined us on April 13 for Values Day! Seventy people gathered to name our values in conversation, reflection, prayer and discernment. Review of the stories that we have shared over the winter identified 5 common themes. We spent time in small groups identifying value words that best described each theme. Those words were then voted on, to determine the values that best describe Kingsway-Lambton when we are at our best. We emerged with: Belonging, Spirituality, Compassionate Service and Relevance. Rev. Dr. John Pentland helped us to unpack these values during his sermon on April 14. Following is what he shared: We seek to remind people that they belong just as they are. They don’t need to fit in. Spirituality is a word that reminds us to connect with each other in faith and with those outside of our church family. We gather, bound by ritual, silence, sermon, song and faith. Compassionate service is evident in much of what we do as a community of faith. From the Flea Market to the Art Show, Coldest Night, Out of the Cold, the Warmth Initiative, we strive to care for those around us and each other. Relevance helps to empower belonging, spirituality and compassionate service. It is our connection to the present and the momentum that carries us into the future. To hear Rev. Dr. John Pentland talk more about our values and how they will carry us forward, click on this link: KLUC 4 Values You can find the full service from April 14 on the Kingsway-Lambton YouTube channel. |
