In Loving Memory of Joan Chaikoff

Joan passed away peacefully at the Village of Tansley Woods in Burlington, Ontario, on November 22, 2025, at the age of 89 years.  Devoted wife of Richard Chaikoff and loving mother to Karen (Gytis) and David.  Doting grandmother to Katie (James) and Sara (Daniyal).  Dedicated dog mom to Stretch (deceased).  Predeceased by her parents, James and Daisy Nevison, and brothers James and Bruce.  Cherished sister to Bill (Linda), aunt and caring relative to many nieces and nephews, other family members and their dogs.

Joan grew up in the Kingsway neighbourhood of Etobicoke and graduated from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in the Pre-School Education program in 1957. She specialized in working with special needs children. She married Richard Chaikoff in 1959 and later settled in the West Deane Park area of Etobicoke.  She was a proud and devoted longtime member of Kingsway-Lambton United Church.  

Joan will be long remembered for her exceptional kindness and generosity to all who knew and loved her.  Whether supporting a family member, friend, or a total stranger, she touched everyone with her warmth and genuine affability.

A celebration of life service and reception will be held at Kingsway-Lambton United Church at 85 The Kingsway, Etobicoke, Ontario, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025.  To leave your condolences, please visit www.dbburlington.ca.
