Nathan Gritter (he/him) is a singer and conductor based in Toronto. He completed his Master of Music degree at the University of Toronto in 2024, studying choral conducting with Dr. Jamie Hillman. Nathan played a large role in the organization and artistic leadership of the University's performance of "Considering Matthew Shepard" in 2023, co-conducting the work. He is the current assistant conductor with the Orpheus Choir of Toronto.
Nathan is a founding member of the new professional choir Silver Thread with whom he performs repertoire spanning all ages and style. Nathan’s passion and expertise in choral music has led him to work with groups such as The Elora Singers, Toronto Mendelssohn Singers, Choir 21, Trinity Bach Project, and the Theatre of Early Music.
Recent projects include soloist features in Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb with the Elora Singers and Bach's Aus der Tiefen rufe ich, Herr, zu dir BWV 131, Himmelskönig, sei wilkommen BWV 182, Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit BWV 106 with the Trinity Bach Project. Nathan also recently completed two projects in western France working with esteemed baroque group Les Arts Florissants and their director Paul Agnew.
Nathan began his time at Kingsway Lambton as a student section lead in the chancel choir in 2017. He took on the role of music director in 2022 and has since led the choir through many exciting projects including three successful spring concerts, a featured guest performance at Tyndale Seminary, and most recently a performance of Haydn's Missa Brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo. He is thrilled to continue to serve as music director and explore new and old ways of worship with the choir and congregation.
