United Church Women (UCW) is an organization open to all women in the church. It provides
fun and fellowship for its members and support for the wider community. Meetings are held
every month during the fall, in small groups (Units), and all the members celebrate together at
the Christmas Luncheon (first Tuesday in December) and the June Dinner (first Tuesday in
June).
The UCW holds two annual fundraisers, the Flea Market and the Charity Art Show & Sale.
Our annual Flea Market is held every year on the last Saturday in April, rain or shine! As one of
the "biggest and best" sales in Toronto, it raises a significant amount of money for over twenty
local charities. But the fun really occurs during the week beforehand, when dozens of
volunteers are busy getting the donations unpacked, sorted, priced and ready for sale.
Our annual Charity Art Show & Sale also takes place at the church, in late March or early April.
It is a notably successful fundraiser with original paintings, ceramics, jewelry, glasswork by
Canadian artists offered for sale, and the money raised going to over twenty local charities.
Information on the show and profiles of the artists can be found
at kingswaylambtonartshow.ca.
There are several ways to get involved in the UCW. There are seven active units, perhaps you know a member of one and could try a meeting. You can participate as little or as much as your schedule allows. Attend monthly, or periodically, to enjoy an evening or an event with supportive women. If you'd like more information, contact the UCW through the church office at office@kingswaylambton.ca (please put "UCW" in the subject line). We'd love to hear from you.
