Hebrews 13:16 “Do not forget to do good and to share with others.”

Dear Kingsway-Lambton Friends,

On September 13 Reverend Chris Fraser spoke of wellness trends in our world, and the focus on self-improvement. We are indeed very focused on optimizing ourselves. We monitor, measure, adjust, and optimize. But truly being human is not one long attempt at self-improvement and finding the next metric to fix. Being human means reaching out beyond ourselves and caring for others. Wouldn’t it be great if there was an Apple watch measure for generosity, kindness, and
empathy? Let’s call it the GKE index, perhaps measured by a steady resting heart rate, the presence of serotonin (also known as the happy hormone), and the absence of stress endorphins? And good news! Optimizing your GKE by caring for others might just help with all those other wellness metrics.

This is our Thanksgiving Outreach Campaign. We encourage you to optimize your wellness metrics by considering a donation to our campaign. We support seven local charities* who are busy optimizing the funds they receive to care for those in need. And in doing that, they improve the wellness metrics of our city.

Optimally yours,
Sandra -  On behalf of the Outreach Team
