A GIFT FROM THE EMMA JOHNSTON MEMORIAL FUND

Description:
The image is of a taller figure that represents Emma. She has her arms open around two children - a girl holding flowers representing love, and a boy holding a book representing knowledge or education. Roses in the window symbolize love. Pansies represent the memory of a special church friend, Lilian Rose, who had lost a child and continued to be a wonderful, loving person. The angel on the left represents Emma.  When the window was dedicated, it was described as the love window. It is our family’s hope that others will find comfort in the images it shows and understand that it represents a loving memory of our daughter, Emma, who passed away at the age of two years and four months suddenly at home in her sleep. Emma was a caring, fun person and we treasure her memory.

A GIFT FROM THEIR SON, DAVID CROFT
DEDICATED OCTOBER 28, 2012

Description:
In the Gospel according to Luke, we are told of a group of women who supported the mission of Jesus and his disciples. The Kingsway-Lambton United Church Women follow that example through their many activities in support of charities, community services and the Church. The window recognizes the ministry of women, depicting a woman, accompanied by her family, presenting her gifts to Jesus. It is also intended as a representation of a family's love and support of each other in their ongoing involvement in and their support of their Church and community.

Notes:
The window was dedicated at a special service conducted by the women to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the UCW.

GEORGE CARMAN MAINPRIZE FROM HIS WIFE, MABEL.
(1907-1989) AND HIS FAMILY.

Notes:
Note the way the artist has portrayed Jesus' feet in the water.

The figures of Christ and John The Baptist are handpainted and kiln fired. The design is a stock pattern that dates back to the turn of the century. This type of painting requires at least two kiln firings, sometimes three. The face and hands of the figures are painted separately in a process that is so delicate it uses the technique of extracting paint with a needle. This is what give the flesh areas of the body their fine texture and photographic detail.

Notes:
The Garden of Gethsemane, which is located upon the Mount of Olives, was, in all probability, the private garden of some friend of the Master's, and a place where He frequently went to meditate and to pray. It was a lonely place, as it is today.

Earlier in the night, Jesus had left His disciples at the entrance to the garden. In this hour of His deepest suffering, there appeared an angel from heaven strengthening Him. Here in the garden, the sinless Christ begins the agonizing process of man's redemption from sin by bringing His will into complete harmony with that of the Heavenly Father.
