Guest Speaker Schedule:

For January 18 - Rev. Dr. Carmen Lansdowne

This week’s reflection explores what it means to live as Christian disciples committed to the Beloved Community—not only through personal kindness, but through care that is built into the very systems of our society. Wrestling with Jesus’ words about “always having the poor,” we will ask whether this lets us off the hook, or whether Jesus is calling us beyond charity toward deeper, transformative justice.

About Our Speaker: Carmen Lansdowne is Assistant Professor of United Church Studies at Emmanuel College, and the immediate post moderator of the United Church. She lives in Etobicoke with her family where they love to create a life of great stories and amazing adventures.
