Lent is a season of forty days, not counting Sundays, which begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday. The season is a preparation for celebrating Easter. Historically, Lent began as a period of fasting and preparation for baptism by converts and then became a time of penance by Christians. Many people during Lent give up something for the 40 days, or they may take up something, like praying daily, reading Scripture, etc. Somber colours such as purple are the colours of the church during Lent.
Come join us for Lent, as we prepare our hearts, minds and souls for the joy of Easter day and Christ at work in us.
Join us this Sunday, March 3, the Third Sunday in Lent, for our 10am worship service led by our
Coordinating Minister, Rev. Jaylynn Byassee.
Scripture: Exodus 20: 1-17
Sermon: “Shaped by God”
All are invited to the Auditorium for a Light Lunch after the service
with the Annual Congregational Meeting to follow.
