United Church Women (UCW) is an organization which provides Christian fellowship and friendship to women in our church, and support to our community.
The UCW is strongly committed to supporting those in need in our community and holds a number of fundraising events every year, the largest being the Flea Market and Art Show & Sale. In 2020, both were sidelined by COVID-19. Due to ongoing concerns about public health in 2021 and 2022, the 23rd and 24th annual Art Show & Sale went online - to great success. The Flea Market remains on hold.
The 25th annual Art Show & Sale will take place on March 25, 2023. Updates on the show (paintings, ceramics, jewellery, glass and garden art offered for sale by Canadian artists) and artist profiles can be found on the show’s website at kingswaylambtonartshow.ca.
In February 2022, the UCW's returning “Souper Bowl Soup Sale” raised over $1,300. Volunteers posted ads, counted jars and tallied orders, shopped and washed, chopped and boiled and bottled, and sold over 113 jars of scrumptious soup. An amazing 100 1-litre jars were donated! Our sincere thanks go to the volunteers, customers, and donors for their tremendous support.
While a small portion of the funds raised by UCW goes to support the operations of the church, the lion's share is donated to a broad range of charities, most of which provide shelter and support to those in need. For more information and a list of charities supported, click here.
There are several ways to get involved in the UCW. You could join a Unit in which you know someone, or you can attend meetings held by different Units to find one that suits you best. You can participate as little or as much as your schedule allows. Come to every meeting or activity, or come periodically just to enjoy an evening or afternoon with friends.
If you'd like more information or are interested in joining, contact the UCW through the church office at email@example.com (please put "UCW" in the subject line). We'd love to hear from you.
