Legacy Gifts and Bequests
Legacy gifts or bequests are future gifts which you leave in your will. They may save tax on your estate as a charitable deduction helping to offset residual taxes owing. You do not have to rewrite your will. The single addition to your will, called a codicil, is all that you need. You can leave a set amount, percentage or residual amount of your estate to Kingsway-Lambton. Some sample wording might be as follows:
- I bequeath to Kingsway-Lambton United Church (____% or $______) of my estate to be used unrestricted.
I bequeath to Kingsway-Lambton United Church (____% or $______) of my estate. I direct the funds to be used for the following purpose (to be specified).
I bequeath to Kingsway-Lambton United Church (____% or $______) of my estate. I direct the money to be invested and the income generated to be used for (to be specified).
To discuss legacy gifts or bequests further, please contact the church office and you will be put in contact with the appropriate individual within our organization.
We strongly encourage you to seek professional advice to ensure that your financial goals are considered, your tax situation reviewed and that your planned gift is tailored to best fit your requirements.
